The company, which was based in Coventry, was involved in the manufacture of motorcars from 1904 onwards. Restoration/Specification This car was rebuilt into the present configuration some fourteen years ago, the chassis and running gear were from a 12/40 'P' Type. However, the chassis seems to have been unique in that it had been machined both for 'P' Type and Hyper models. The front axle was rebuilt with new Kingpins and bearings. The rear axle was fitted with 4.7:1 differential with new seals and bearings. The brakes were all relined with 'soft' linings. All road springs were rebuilt and re-set. The wheels were all rebuilt and powder coated and fitted with 4.75 -5.00 x 19" tyres. The gearbox has been completely rebuilt with close-ratios, with new bearings and seals. The Meadows 4ED engine of 1.5 litres has had a new crank and rods by Farndon Engineering of Coventry and high compression pistons, whilst the flywheel is a lightened flywheel and stamped 1928 'TT'. (Believed to be a spare taken to the 1928 TT by the factory.) The cylinder head is a new Deflector head (a la Frazer Nash) and fitted with twin 11/2" SU carburettors. The engine has been fully dynamically balanced. A water pump has been fitted driven via the dynamo. It has twin SU fuel pumps and a full stainless steel exhaust system. A new 'long-distance' fuel tank has also been fitted. The body is constructed of aluminium over an aluminium and marine plywood frame. The body has not been painted or polished. The wings are quick release for competition. There is a single Aero screen for the driver and a full tonneau cover with centre zip for full or partial protection. The cockpit has two bucket-type seats professionally upholstered in black leather. The dashboard is fully instrumented with the correct instruments and gauges. The radiator is the correct Hyper 15 º degree sloping radiator. Recent history The car has competed at Silverstone, Colerne, and Shelsley Walsh. Less than 3,000 miles have been driven since the rebuild of the car. There is a reasonably large history file with the car together with the original buff coloured logbook and many photographs taken during the restoration of the car. Known affectionately as Heneretta it's sure to provide a great deal of enjoyment to a new owner. Although prepared for competition, the car is fully road legal and MoT'd and is more than able to keep up with most modern traffic.
